I bought this air scrubber as part of a DIY asbestos remediation. Yes, you read that! The textured ceiling and mudded tape all had asbestos and needed to go on the bathroom reno. Myself and one other spent three days prepping the space, which included 2 layers of 6 mil poly on everything (including above the ceiling!), a three-stage decontamination chamber, tyvek suits with half face respirators, respirators were fit-tested with choking gas, and of course, a Hepa-rated air scrubber that pulled at least 6 air changes per hour vented through a duct outside. The Predator 750 was actually doing about 1 air change per minute. We completed the work, and three days later had air quality testing done to clear the space. No asbestos fibers were detected over the five samples! After the cleaning and encapsulation it is the air scrubber doing all the work, and it did the job well!I'll also note that I ran the air scrubber without any ducting during a normal demo phase. This included removing a lathe and concrete tile backer with and angle grinder and pry bar. It made a TON of dust! The air scrubber limited nearly all of that dust to the work area.It was expensive, and it would have cost me half the price the rent the same unit locally. But I'm going to start earning that back with future reno's. All we'll need is a replacement Hepa filter for the next asbestos removal project. It's expensive, but cheaper than renting for every reno, and WAY cheaper than hiring it out.
