This filter comes installed black side up. You have to take the filter out of the plastic frame and flip it over and reinstall. Then insert into your car.The filter is held in the frame by one spot of hot glue. I glued mine back into place once I flipped it over so it would stay in the frame once I installed it into my car.The air quality is way beyond the stock panel filter and the ones with charcoal in them. Solid product!
